Stiesdal Hydrogen
Scalable green hydrogen. Delivered
Rapid deployment, industrial reliability, and seamless scalability based on the modular 3.1 MW HydroGen Electrolyzer – a proven system operating since 2023.
Cost-effective green hydrogen is becoming a reality – scalable for your project.
Stiesdal Hydrogen supports the expansion of the PtX economy through industrialized, modular electrolysis solutions. We manufacture and deploy the 3.1 MW HydroGen Electrolyzer, a system designed to operate flexibly with intermittent power and produce cost-effective green hydrogen at scale.
By replacing complex construction with standardized manufacturing, we enable developers to go from project decision to first hydrogen in months rather than years. In our latest deployment, we proved this by going from site delivery to hydrogen production in just 16 days.
Key differentiators:
-
Industrialized and modular
The layout is modular by design, focused on simplicity and functional efficiency. Each electrolyzer is a self-contained unit, built from components supplied by leading European Tier-1 partners. It consists of four modules, delivered on two standard trucks, ready for rapid deployment.
No buildings are required, and support systems  are modular, offering built-in redundancy.
The basic module is a 3.1 MW electrolyzer unit. Projects can start small – for example, 12,4 MW with four units – and expand stepwise to 25 MW, 50 MW, or beyond.
-
Dynamic by design
The system cold-start time is under five minutes. It ramps at 1% per second, operates across a wide load range, and shuts down instantly.
The electrolyzer is optimized for intermittent operation with minimal degradation over thousands of start-stop cycles.
This dynamic capability enables hydrogen plants to act as demand-side participants in electricity markets and ensures smooth integration with variable renewable electricity sources.
-
Efficient and cost-optimized
Electrodes and support systems are designed for high efficiency throughout, and the electrolyzer stack features internal electrode cooling to ensure uniform temperature and minimize electrical losses.
The stack is integrated into a pressure vessel, providing outdoor protection while delivering hydrogen at up to 35 bars without compression losses, reducing downstream CAPEX and OPEX.
All modules are built from components already in mass production, minimizing cost and enabling rapid production scale-up.
-
Simple interfaces
Our standardized system requires only a minimal set of interfaces at the fence line:
- Medium voltage AC power supply Simple purified water
- SCADA control signal
Proven control and power systems from the wind industry ensure full grid-code compliance with no need for supplementary STATCOMs, harmonic filters, capacitors, or reactors.
First hydrogen delivered after just 16 days
Stiesdal’s team commissioned the fifth HydroGen Electrolyzer unit in October 2025, at European Energy’s MÃ¥de PtX facility.
In just over two weeks, we went from system delivery to hydrogen production, with no buildings required, minimal site preparation, and rapid commissioning. This illustrates the potential of modular and industrialized hydrogen deployment.
Our Head of Sales and Business Development Esben Baltzer Nielsen was in MÃ¥de to witness the site record.
